Hilton Kaplan
Hilton Kaplan, MD is a Plastic Surgeon from South Africa, who specialized at the University of Cape Town's internationally acclaimed Groote Schuur Hospital, home to the world's first heart transplant. During his residency he spent 3 months in Antarctica, and completed courses in Aviation & Aerospace Medicine, as well as Diving & Submarine Medicine. Thereafter he became an associate in private practice with Dr Des Fernandes, where they performed key clinical research on minimally invasive suspension techniques for facial rejuvenation, as well as collagen induction therapy which today has become the revolutionary Roll-CIT(TM) system. He has presented research and published articles for numerous international conferences and journals. He is also the author of a novel technique for repairing Stahl's ear deformities. Currently he is on staff at the University of Southern California in the Medical Device Development Facility of the Alfred Mann Institute. Here Dr Kaplan is completing his PhD in Biomedical Engineering, as part of a team developing radio-controlled injectable electronic chips called BIONs(TM) to stimulate movement in the paralyzed. While at USC he has concurrently completed his Masters in Medical Device & Diagnostic Engineering, a Masters in Regulatory Science, and a Graduate Certificate in Technology Commercialization from the Marshall School of Business.
Hilton is the adoptive dad to a wonderful son Jacques, who is a charismatic and spirited burn survivor.
