VALENTIA NEMAULUMA

On the afternoon of April 9th, 2017, Valentia, age 23 at the time, was walking home from church in Pretoria, South Africa, when a hired attacker viciously splattered battery acid across her face, resulting in marring injuries and deep scars. Valentia’s attacker was a young man hired by her scorned ex-boyfriend and father of her two-year-old son, at the time.

Three years after the tragedy, Dr. Peter Grossman, President of The Grossman Burn Foundation (GBF) received an inquiry through Drs. Cameron McIntosh, the founder and HOD at The Society of Rhinoplasty Surgeons South Africa (SORSSA) and Dr. Christian Quitter, Deputy HOD ENT-HNS, University of Pretoria Medical School, (Valentia’s surgeon). It was through their collaboration and effort that Grossman Burn Foundation was able to bring Valentia to the United States in 2020 for a life-changing reconstructive surgery…

Valentia talks about her experience.
